Explore Christian living ↗The Living Word is a Christian teaching resource devoted to exploring the Bible and applying its truth to daily life. Our goal is to make careful study welcoming, clear, and rooted in the whole counsel of Scripture.
We believe the Bible is the final authority for Christian faith and practice. Our teaching seeks to honour Jesus Christ, explain the text in context, and encourage humility where sincere Christians differ.

Short, contextual notes to help you observe the text, understand its meaning, and consider its application.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
Genesis begins with God—not with an explanation of where He came from, but with the declaration that He is already there. Everything that exists owes its beginning to His creative will. The first scene moves from darkness and unformed waters to light at God’s command. The repeated phrase “And God said” shows that creation responds to its Maker’s word.
“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” — John 1:4
John deliberately echoes Genesis: “In the beginning.” The Word was not created; He was with God and was God. The Gospel identifies this Word as Jesus (John 1:14). Life is found in Him, and His light shines into the darkness. John’s opening prepares us to see Jesus not merely as a teacher, but as the eternal Son who makes God known.
“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” — Romans 8:1
“Therefore” connects this promise to Paul’s argument about sin, the law, and deliverance through Jesus Christ. Those who belong to Christ are no longer under the guilty verdict their sin deserves. God has acted through His Son, and the Spirit now enables a life shaped by God’s will. Christian obedience grows from grace; it does not purchase acceptance with God.
